MARX TO ENGELS

IN MANCHESTER

[London,] 24 February [1857]

9 Grafton Terrace, Maitland Park,

Haverstock Hill

Dear Engels,

Are you laughing, are you weeping, are you waking, are you sleeping?[1] Have had no reply to the various letters I have sent to Manchester over the past 3 weeks. However, I assumé they have arrived. Send me back what I enclosed in my last—Olmsted's letter—since I must answer it ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

Salut.

Your

K. M.
